Your rights as a voter

Texas voters must present one of seven acceptable forms of photo identification at the polls — see the identification requirements for Texas voters. If you need help voting, you may be assisted by any person you choose other than your employer, an agent of your employer, or an officer or agent of a union you belong to. A voter who is 65 or older, or who has a disability, may ask an election officer to be moved to the front of the line.
Electioneering is prohibited inside the protected area of a polling place during the voting period, including expressing a preference for or against any candidate, measure, or political party (Texas Election Code §§ 61.003, 85.036). Handguns are prohibited in a polling place under § 46.03 of the Texas Penal Code.
